What is the
Cocoanut Grove?
The Cocoanut Grove is a unique California conference, banquet, and
entertainment complex located on the Santa Cruz main beach next
to the Santa
Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Built in 1907 as the “Neptune Casino,”
this state historic landmark offers an elegant beachside location
for private parties, wedding receptions, dances, trade shows, business
conferences, company picnics or parties, workshops, and meetings.
Where are you located?
The Cocoanut Grove is located at 400
Beach Street in Santa Cruz. From the outside it is the cream
and colorfully outlined building on the ocean side of Beach Street
next to the sand.
Why do you spell coconut:”Cocoanut?”
It’s been spelled that way since the 95-year-old facility’s
name was changed in the 1930s. This is an old-fashioned and correct
way of spelling coconut, as in the Marx Brothers’ movie, “The
Cocoanuts.”
How many rooms do you have?
A more than 20,000-square-foot facility, the Cocoanut Grove features
two main complexes: the Grand Ballroom
and the Sun Room. Both can be used
for many occasions such as weddings, trade shows, or dances.
Can you see the ocean?
Yes. The glass-domed/Sun Room has
a bank of windows facing the sea. Within the Grand
Ballroom Complex, Bay View Room
and Lounge offer a view of
the entire Monterey Bay.
How much does it cost to rent the Cocoanut Grove?
The price depends on the type of event, number of people, and other
variables.
What about weddings?
What does it cost to have a wedding reception at the Cocoanut Grove?
The cost of a wedding also varies and includes the cost of room
rentals, meals, a professional event planner, and full staffing.
Can we have our wedding ceremony there as well?
Yes.

Do we have to buy your food and beverages for our wedding
or can we bring in our own?
We require that our meal service is included in your reception.
We have a large-scale commercial kitchen staffed with food service
professionals who provide quality, gourmet meals.
Can we decorate before the event?
Yes, we allow at least one and a half hours for decorating. Additional
time may be available for a fee, depending on other events scheduled
that day.
Is there someone from the Cocoanut Grove there the day of the
event to help?
Yes. An event manager will be on duty. We also provide an event
planner prior to the date.
Do you have any overnight accommodations?
We
would be happy to provide you with a list of accommodations. Contact
us.
For corporate meetings, do you have LCD and other technical services?
We do have a technical services staff available but we would need
the group’s specifications.
